Grace and peace. Mona Hanford, one of our long-time parishioners, has written a book titled The Graceful Exit: 10 Things You Need to Know: Face Reality, Make Wise Choices and Find Hope at the End of Life. I encourage you to read it and reflect on what it says about our lives. Life is definitely about living, not existing. That is what Mona’s book is about. Even if your final chapter is many years off, it is likely that you will care for someone along the journey. I am confident that gaining perspective about the end-of-life will help you live every chapter of your life differently.
Right now, the book is only available on Kindle, but in the next couple of weeks it will also be available in print. Download it now. Mona will speak about her book and sign copies after the 10:30am service on April 15. It will be the beginning of a 5-week series at St. Patrick’s about end of life and how to care for each other through sickness and health. More about the specifics later.
I wrote to you on Sunday about the death of Cleveland Barnes. The date of the memorial service for Cleveland has not been set. I encourage you to read the resolution passed by the Vestry in November 2013 to honor Cleveland’s many years of service. Thank you for expressing your condolences with Carolyn.
