This Week at St. Patrick's February 6, 2019

From the Rector

Grace and peace! First off, thank you to all who helped make the celebration of Karen Melchar’s tenure as our parish administrator a gigantic success. We offered a chair dedicated in thanksgiving for Karen (see picture below), a food extravaganza, and many opportunities to express our appreciation. You can still contribute to the causes close to Karen's heart online (use the blank "Karen Melchar Thank You").

We are also in the midst of the Way of Love. This past Sunday, I preached on the practice of prayer (listen). Prayer is an important practice in the effort to reach fulfillment. I offered three rules for a more meaningful prayer practice:

  1. Listen more than you speak
  2. Prayer is not for God; Prayer transforms us
  3. God’s message must pass the “Love” test

This Sunday, we will explore the practice of “worship.” In an effort to explore our regular worship life, we will offer an Instructed Eucharist during our regular 10am service instead of a sermon. A narrator will offer explanations about the liturgy as we participate in it. This is an effort to deepen our understanding of our communal life.

See you on Sunday.

Blessings,
