This Week at St. Patrick's January 3, 2018

Posted on

Grace and peace and Happy New Year! I do hope that everyone is ready for a wonderful 2018. I am excited about the opportunities ahead of us. This Sunday at the 10:30 service, we will celebrate the contribution of our Vestry members, particularly the three who are concluding their service. I want to thank Dan Bourque, Garrett Lowe and Martha Johnson for their years on the Vestry and look forward to their continued ministry at St. Patrick’s. Dan served as our Senior Warden for the past two years. He has overseen some major transitions with a calm and measured dedication even while juggling a move and major family health concerns. Garrett served as the Junior Warden for the Day School for the past four years. He has done an amazing job bridging the life of the church and the school, and will be greatly missed by the Vestry and the Day School Board. Martha is finishing a term on the Vestry. She has been attuned to the issue of building caring communities within St. Patrick’s, and she plans to continue that work in the future. I have truly appreciated working with these wonderful people of God. After celebrating these contributions, we will install the 2018 Vestry.

We will say goodbye to Lesley Krauland on Sunday, too. At the 10:30am service, we will say special prayers for her as she begins an internship as part of the formation process for ordination to the diaconate. The ordination will take place in September of this year. Lesley has been a member of St. Patrick’s for nearly 30 years, and has been preparing for the diaconate for the last four. We will keep her in our prayers and will see her from time-to-time. Lesley has written a letter which is found below.

At the 9am service this Sunday, we will celebrate the Baptism of Jesus with a baptism. This is a great way to bring in the new year.

You saw the note last week that long-time parishioner Tucker Battle died on December 28th. Tucker contributed much to the life of St. Patrick’s and will be greatly missed. We will celebrate his life and inter his ashes in the columbarium on Saturday, January 27 at 2pm.Jane and the whole Battle family thank you for your prayers of support and love during this period of mourning.

Christmas Blessings,
