Grace and peace. This past Sunday, we were blessed to have our new assistant, Jenifer Gamber, worship with us for the first time. When I announced this call a few months ago, I noted that Jenifer was about to complete her seminary education and is in the ordination process in the Diocese of Washington. She will be ordained on November 17th. Although Jenifer will be newly ordained, she has experience in Christian Formation for children and youth and is the author of My Faith, My Life, a resource that we have used for Confirmation preparation for the past several years. She was also an editor of an economics text book. She moved to Washington four years ago when her husband Ed took a position with the Congressional Budget Office.
I hope that you will take the time to get to know Jenifer and Ed over the summer. Jenifer will preach for the first time here at St. Patrick’s on Sunday, July 22 and will be team teaching our summer education series which also begins on that Sunday.
As you know, I am getting married this Saturday and will then be on my honeymoon for nine days. The Rev. Dr. Yolanda Rolle will return to preach this Sunday and the Rev. Randy Wilkinson will be here for the first time on Sunday, July 15.
We are sending this news to you on Tuesday, because tomorrow we will be participating in the Palisades July 4th Parade. I hope you will join us. Bring your dog, a bike, and your St. Patrick’s spirit as we share the holiday with our neighbors. This year, we have some added swag that will be handed out to our participants and to those watching the parade. The parade is a great way to let people know about the amazing things happening at St. Patrick’s. Begin arriving on Whitehaven Parkway at 10:30. The Parade begins at 11am. It concludes in Palisades Park with a community picnic.
