Grace and peace. In a few hours, our Day School will graduate another class of Grade 8 students including parishioners Lily Bass, Laura Groh, Helena Hunter, Louisa Kean, Nora Lowe, Stella Tongour, and Sarah White. Please hold them in prayer today.
I will be traveling on Saturday morning with eight youth and two other adults on a partnership trip to Haiti. This is the first time that we have taken a predominantly youth trip in 15 years. While there, we will be collaborating with St. Etienne youth to offer a summer camp for approximately 60 children ages 4-6. We have packed lots of craft supplies, games, and the donated socks and underwear that you donated to our cause. When I return, we will share more about this important trip.
You will notice a few changes around St. Patrick’s. The most obvious will be the replacement of the front driveway. There are long-time issues under the drive that require new piping and water storage tanks. Over the next several months while the school is on break, the drive will be torn up and replaced. The drive will not be returned exactly as it is right now due to DC regulations. The orientation will be different and more green space will be added.
In the Great Hall, the carpet was replaced two weeks ago and next week a gas log will be added to the newly refurbished fireplace. The renovation of the fireplace was funded by our memorial fund. The names of parishioners in whose memory sizable memorial contributions have been made over the past 3 years will be included on the new stone plaque. As future memorials are made, their names will be added to the plaque.
In the latter part of July, the floors in the nave will be refinished. This is a major project that is way overdue. We will not be allowed to step on the nave floor for several weeks. More about this project later.
