Grace and peace. This is a big weekend. Both Karen and Adele have children graduating from college over the weekend. Phoebe at Boston University and Jesse at University of Maryland at College Park. What this means is that Karen and Adele will be spending the weekend with family and friends celebrating this important milestone. JoLynne Hough and Louis Orphanos will be gracing us with their musical talents on Sunday at both the 9am and 10:30am service. Read more about them below. Let’s just say that most churches don’t have this kind of talent waiting in the wings.
This Sunday is the last 9am Sunday School service for the program year. Beginning on May 28th, there will be one service at 10am which will continue throughout the summer months. At the 10:30am service, Lesley Krauland will be offering her first sermon. Lesley is a postulant for the diaconate in the Diocese of Washington and has been a parishioner at St. Patrick’s for many years. God willing, she will be ordained a deacon in 2018. For the past year and half, she has been studying at Wesley Seminary and in the Deacon’s School in the Diocese of Washington. Come hear her this Sunday at the 10:30 service.
I will be here on Sunday. I am lucky to have the opportunity to officiate the marriage of Matt Zeller and Liz Calvey on Saturday evening. You met them when Matt shared with us his work with refugees through No One Left Behind back in March. We then partnered with No One Left Behind to provide shopping sprees to Afghani refugees as part of our Rummage Sale. Keep Matt and Liz in your prayers as they exchange vows and rings and receive God’s blessing on their life together.
