Grace and peace. It has been two years since our Haitian partner priest has visited St. Patrick’s. That will change tomorrow. Pere Jean Medela Milor will be here until Tuesday. He has never been to St. Patrick’s or Washington, DC. He will preach at both the 9am and 10:30am services on Sunday.
In 1979, St. Patrick’s began partnering with St. Etienne church in the rural mountains of Haiti between Leogane and Jacmel. Over the years, we have gotten to know some special people and have been able to build school buildings, provide support for educational endeavors, and provide relief in times of catastrophe. Pere Milor will be able to tell us about the current situation at St. Etienne and how we can continue to enhance our nearly 40-year partnership. There are several St. Patrick’s parishioners who have traveled to Haiti on our behalf over the years. I hope that others in our parish will choose to travel with our team on a future trip. I am convinced that seeing the conditions and meeting the people in Haiti will change your life for the better. Contact Marilyn Nowalk for more information about future trips to Haiti.
I do hope to see you on Sunday at St. Patrick’s.
