Grace and peace. In my years at St. Patrick’s, I cannot remember a more joy-filled Kick-off Sunday. It was great to have so many people gathering together to worship and celebrate the life we share in this part of God’s Kingdom. Kick-off marks the beginning of our program year. I encourage you to participate in the life of St. Patrick’s. We have programs for people of all ages.
One program that begins on Sunday is Alpha. Last Spring, several St. Patrick’s parishioners participated in an Alpha pilot program held at our cathedral. This program was spearheaded by Bishop Mariann and Dean Randy Hollerith. This Sunday, beginning at noon, we will be trying Alpha at St. Patrick’s. The program begins with a light lunch and social time. I will then speak for 20 minutes about a burning question of faith. After the presentation, small groups will discuss the weekly topic. The first week’s question: “Is there more to life than this?” Alpha is not only a way to learn about the Christian faith, but also a way to build community with those at St. Patrick’s. I hope that you will consider participating in Alpha. If you plan to attend, please send me an email.
I announced on Sunday that the memorial service for Nancy Vaughn will be held at St. Patrick’s this Friday at 5pm. It will be followed by a reception in the Great Hall. You can read Nancy’s obituary from the Washington Post by following this link.
Thank you for being part of this community.
