Grace and peace. The first two weeks of our program year have gotten off to a great start. Last Sunday, Jenifer Gamber offered a Godly Play retelling of the creation story. Godly Play opens up the story so that children can experience it. This Sunday, we will be beginning our new Sunday School/Children’s Chapel routine. During the first part of the service, children age 3-12 are invited to follow the cross to the Church Library where they will engage in age-appropriate music led by Adele and prayers with a Godly Play. Jenifer Gamber will be helping us get used to this new storytelling way, but we need volunteers willing to learn the Godly Play storytelling method. I would say that this would be a great opportunity for many people including high school age youth, young adults, parents, and empty nesters. If you are interested in being a storyteller, please let me know.
On October 7, we will celebrate St. Francis with a service of pet blessing at our 10am service. Please plan to bring your pet, a picture of your pet, or a stuffed animal to St. Patrick’s on that Sunday. After the service, Rebecca Goodhart, Deputy Director of Homeward Trails, an animal adoption non-profit in the metro area, will tell us about her organization and ways that we can help. That evening, we will host a potluck dinner and game night at St. Patrick’s beginning at 5pm. It’s a long weekend, plan to spend it with your St. Patrick’s family.
