Volunteer Roles in Grades 3-6 Sunday School
1) Classroom shepherds (Sign Up Online)
Shepherds make anywhere from a 4- to an 8-week commitment, but they NEVER prepare a lesson! Shepherds stay with the same class. They are classroom “hosts,” providing the essential relationship in the program. They welcome children each week, learn their names, and provide consistency of presence. If you want to stay with your own child, this is the ministry for you.
If you know now that you will be away for 2 or 3 Sundays, you can sign up with a friend who can share the weeks with you. If, however, you know that you will miss more than 2 or 3 Sundays, then consider being a workshop leader. Workshop leaders serve for only 4 Sundays (not necessarily consecutively).
2) Workshop Leaders (Sign Up Online)
Workshop leaders teach for 4 Sundays (not necessarily consecutively). They prepare only ONE lesson. They teach the same lesson each week to a different group of children, adjusting slightly for grade level. Workshop leaders who want to spend time with their own children have appointed their children “helpers” as they move from class to class.
3) Option 3
If neither of the above options work for you, but you would still like to be involved, contact . There is a way for everyone to contribute!
Sunday School Volunteers are needed year round
Opportunities continue to become available. Once you choose your role, we will contact you to make sure you have everything you need to feel prepared.
