Called to Risk

Called to Risk

Passage: 1 Thessalonians 2:2-12

Preacher: The Rev. Dr. Kurt Gerhard

Series: Lent 2019

Category: Discipleship

Summary:

Sermon Delivered on St. Patrick's Day

Detail:

Quote from sermon

To laugh is to risk appearing a fool; to weep is to risk appearing sentimental; to reach out to others is to risk involvement; to expose your feelings is to risk exposing your true self; to dream is to risk loss, to love is to risk not being loved in return; to live is to risk dying; to hope is to risk despair; to try is to risk failure. But risks we must take because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.

The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing. One may, for the moment, avoid suffering and sorrow but he or she will not learn or love or change or grow. Only the person who risks is totally free.
