Faith without works is dead (James 2.20)
St. Patrick’s engages in many ministries that feed our soul and deepen our relationship with God. We believe that we can make our daily life and work a vocation of service, whether that is in a career position, in retirement, as a parent or a student.
We also take our faith outside the walls of this Parish to all corners of the world. St. Patrick’s partners with groups around the city of Washington, DC and in the mountains of Haiti. Service to the world is a gift we make in thanksgiving for all of our blessings.
Our pastoral care group supports the needs of those in our community, bringing personal connection in times of need. Email the pastoral care team.
St. Patrick’s has partnered with St. Etienne Church and School in the mountains of Southern Haiti since 1979. Working together, members and friends of St. Patrick’s and leaders and residents of this small rural community have built a strong relationship that continues to serve each community in profound ways. Contact Haiti Co-Chair Marilyn Nowalk for more information or to get involved in the partnership.
St. Patrick’s is an active partner parish with Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington, a faith-based service organization that helps people step up and out of poverty through education, resume services, and transitional skills. If you are interested in getting involved with Samaritan Ministry, contact our partner parish representative, Karen Melchar.
St. Patrick’s parishioners volunteer for the Salvation Army’s Grate Patrol on the 3rd Sunday of the month. Volunteers make sandwiches and assemble meal bags to help our neighbors experiencing homelessness. For more information, contact Ellen Terpstra.
The goal of Horizons is to provide enriching summer programs for children from low-income families to assist in raising academic achievement over the long term. St. Patrick’s Day School is partnered with Bancroft Elementary, and faculty members, graduates, parents, and parishioners are integral partners in providing this valuable ministry. For more information about Horizons, please visit the Day School website.
