Our music program at St. Patrick’s strives to provide an opportunity for all ages to participate in music and help enrich the life of our St. Patrick’s community. We also offer concerts, recitals and other events that engage our music participants and offer fun and fellowship to our community.
All of our enthusiastic musicians share anthems and other music with our community regularly, adding variety and expression to our worship.
The Cantoris Choir rehearses weekly, in a flexible schedule, from September through mid-June. Within the Cantoris Choir, we have several section leaders who help and encourage others in the choir. These talented professional singers also provide special music in the form of solos, duets and other ensembles for our worship and music events.
Our Cantoris Choir provides special music and congregational support at most of the 10:00am services, with anthems covering a broad spectrum of traditional pieces from the Renaissance through the present day. Several “major works” throughout the season provide challenge and inspiration. It is open to adults and young persons of high school age. Rehearsals are weekly September – June.
Action abounds as these children learn about music and the church through song. A related craft ties the lesson together and we finish with pizza dinner!
Periodic Fridays 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm, and often sharing a song in church the following Sunday, September – May.
The “Deo” is for young persons grades 3-6. This incredible group of kids provides occasional special music on Sundays and participates in special events throughout the school year including mini-musicals, a favorite project among our Jubilate Deo singers.
Highlights from this past year included two mini-musicals, “A St. Patrick’s Christmas Carol” and “A Not So Terrible Parable”. Rehearsals are weekly by session, September – May.
There are great opportunities in music for kids in Grades 7 – 8 in conjunction with “The Classy,” a Christian Formation session for this age group. As one of the the St. Patrick’s Peal handbell groups, these young people learn to work together in ringing our beautiful Schulmerich handbells.
Rehearsals are by session, September – May Sundays 5:45pm – 6:30pm.
Two beautiful Timpani, and a new Gretsch Drum Set are parts of the collection of terrific instruments here at St. Patrick’s and young people from 5th – 12th grade are invited to join in the fun. Just schedule a Sunday and commit to a weekday rehearsal beforehand.
We invite you to put those music lessons to work! Share your talents with our parish and offer instrumental music during worship services. Let me know when you have something all polished up and ready to play.
Our music offering for High School age young people, this great group adds “new light” to our Cantoris Choir periodically as they join for special anthems and events. (It also gives our very, very time-crunched older teens an opportunity to continue their singing at St. Patrick’s even in the midst of AP courses, sports marathons and college/job preparation.)
Rehearsals are periodic Sundays with the Cantoris Choir, September – May.
Our handbell groups are varied—One-Rehearsal Handbells, 7th/8th grade Classy—and are open to Grade 5 through Adult. Family “teams” are welcome to participate together. Music reading is not essential, though musical training happens as we rehearse.
Rehearsal is by session September – May.
This lively group meets occasionally on Sunday morning throughout the year. We gather at 9:15 before the 10:00am service for donuts, juice, hot chocolate, and coffee before rehearsing a simple contemporary anthem to assist in leading morning worship. It is open to all (from 1 – 92!) and provides an opportunity in music for those unable to commit to a weekly rehearsal.
