Remembering Dan Bourque

Grace and peace. I write in sadness. Dan Bourque died this past Saturday due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease. Dan was a member of the choir and a faithful servant of the Gospel here at St. Patrick’s for over 30 years. I appreciated his support during his tenure as Senior Warden (2016-2017). I remember telling him on a day in December 2017 that I was planning to ask Jennifer Lee to marry me. As I told him, Dan began to cry tears of joy. He told me that the love of his wife was the most important relationship in his life and he was filled with joy that I would experience that feeling, too. Dan’s big heart led him to supporting those who were hungry. He regularly delivered food from our pantry to our partners at St. Philip’s.

After concluding his service as Senior Warden, Dan and Cherry moved to Charlottesville to be closer to their son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren while they dealt with health issues. They joined the local Episcopal Church there, but were not far from their long-standing relationships here at St. Patrick’s. A virtual service of memorial will be held at Emmanuel Church in Charlottesville soon (we will send information to you when we know the date and time) and Dan will be interred in the St. Patrick’s columbarium when it becomes safe.

I encourage you to send a note to Cherry:
