Prayers for our St. Patrick’s Family

Grace and peace. As you know, the past month has seen a resurgence in COVID. This uptick in cases and the omicron variant’s virulency resulted in some changes for our celebrations of Christmas and in our regular Sunday worship experience. We are still gathering in-person for Sunday morning worship in the nave and will also be livestreaming on our YouTube channel. Our children’s programming is on pause or has been moved to Zoom.

Since the lead up to Christmas, I have heard of many people in our circle who have tested positive for COVID. Many more than I heard about in the earlier stages of the pandemic. Last week, two of our staff members quarantined based on positive COVID testing and close contact. Thankfully, none of the cases I’ve heard about have been life-threatening or involved hospital stays. Please hold everyone recovering from COVID in your prayers and stay vigilant for your own safety and for the well-being of the wider community.

I also ask your prayers this week for members of our St. Patrick’s family who are grieving the loss of loved ones, particularly Claudia Hill for her mother, Lesley Krauland for her father, Donna King for her brother, and Mike Tongour for his sister. May the souls of the departed rest in peace.

Kate Sieber retired at the end of 2021. Kate served as our part-time bookkeeper for almost six years. She reported to me that she was of retirement age (although I don’t believe it). Kate was an amazing bookkeeper for St. Patrick’s. She organized our books with a fine-tooth comb and set up a seamless system.  She also fit into our culture particularly in helping with the rummage sale and planning our periodic staff lunch celebrations.

Elysha King is our new bookkeeper. Elysha is a parent of two Day School children, holds a degree in finance from the University of West Virginia, and has experience bookkeeping at other non-profits. She was looking for a position that was flexible and part-time. Elysha began training last month with Kate and is already proving to be a valuable member of the St. Patrick’s team. She can be reached at bookkeeper@stpatrickschurchdc.org
